Ode to Peanut

Today, our little star is Peanut, Shooee's hamster!

She is SO cute.

Dark, thick fur and huge eyes. If her eyes were any bigger, they'd be popping out. (Heehee).

But her most endearing quality is that she finishes her veggies ON THE SPOT!

All my previous hamsters usually drag their beautiful fresh veggies to a shady corner until the poor greens (and fruits) become sadly and most regretfully soggy. Can't tell you how I hate to remove flaccid pieces of half-eaten veg from the cage. Such a waste. Plus its gross.

When I gave Peanut a piece of butterhead lettuce, I was half afraid she'd drag it into the depths of her lavatory (Shooee bought one for her. Money well spent- she uses it! Some of my hamsters just let it go as and when they get the urge) but she finished it in less than five minutes. I'm tempted to give her some more, but I suppose Shoo won't be happy if she came back to a hamster with chronic diahorrea. Oh well.

Sigh.

I've had such an ordinary day that when a hamster does something like that, it's extraodinarily interesting.

I don't quite know what to read today. The books nowadays are all too emo, too bitchy, too plot-idiotic, or just plain "I'm sure I've read that somewhere before". When I find a rare book that has an intriguing plot, I find garbage among the gem stones. Because it seems even master story-tellers like Jeffery Archer must, some how just MUST, include swearing and cussing and adult content, just to sell their stories.

Sigh. I'm so sad! I haven't read a good book since... a long time. Those I've been looking for just can't be found, even in local major bookstores. (And I haven't been able to persuade Daddy to dish out a bit more for an online book.)

Oh well. I've resorted to reading Roald Dahl books again. A difference of several years gives one a very different perspective of the same stories.

Well. Back to immersing myself in childhood tales. Unless anyone out there has a good book recommendation?
