alone in a crowded world

I had a sudden itch to blog when I read about our dear opposition's appeal to the new Most Influential Man in the world.

Here it comes people, and it's a good one at that!

"human rights abuses of the Singapore government and take positive steps to help Singapore join the community of democracies."

Roll on the floor laughing. Who does this one man force of resistance think he is, the entire nation of Singapore? Human right abuse? Enlighten me please. And one-size democracy fits nobody but intellectuals. And even then only in theory.

"restrictions on freedom of speech and political activity."

Participating in free speech now, aren't I? People who believe that FoS and political activity are a must are as happily on their own planet as those who thought capitalism would bring democracy to China.

What interesting people there are in this world. Besides, what happened to the poor burnt MP shows that there is freedom of expression. Only you pay the price for what you do.

It's like those people who think that they can do what they want because God will always forgive them. The keyword is consequence. It doesn't vanish into thin air. You can but you may not.

It's not that I'm pro-PAP. It's just that they've done such a good job (better than the last Most Influential Man in the world, of the most 'Powerful' Nation on earth I might add) that I'm not about to complain just for the sake of complaining.

Besides, I think it's a proven fact that if anyone wants to really do something for the people of Singapore, they should just join the PAP. Plenty of opportunities to take, resources to use and gaps to fill.

Now that's what I call patriotism.

At best, clowning around isn't patriotism. At worst, it's a misrepresentation of who we are to the world.

I hate foreigners who come in with fear and trepidation. And I know it's not entirely their fault.
